Polaris General – First Shipment Late April

Polaris GENERAL has issued orders to attack and is throwing a massive arsenal behind the bold plan. A call to arms has been issued to Hunters, Adventurers and Farmers and the GENERAL has what it takes.
Of course we are talking about the new 100HP Polaris GENERAL Side x Side vehicle, a true 5-Star off-road utility vehicle blending the hard working attributes of their market dominating Ranger vehicles and the championship winning Polaris RZR sports series. The growing recreational hunting and outdoor market for side x sides has seen serious users seeking out this exact vehicle and Polaris has delivered in spades. Hunters need a vehicle that can get over rugged ground at a reasonable clip and in comfort.
The work side of the Rangers has been carried over to the GENERAL with a 272kg rated dump box and a towing rating of 680kg via a standard 2” receiver, plus the effortless ease of electric power steering. Engine braking System (EBS) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) provide seamless operation to provide optimal traction and control for the given terrain.
The sporting pedigree of the RZR is blended with the practicality of the Ranger by increasing suspension travel to 311mm front and 335mm at the rear for the GENERAL (254mm on Ranger) and sitting high on Independent Double Wishbones at each corner to provide a superb 305mm ground clearance plus Anti-sway Bars at the front and rear. This is all designed to allow faster travel in greater comfort over more challenging terrain and is further supported with full body underside skidplate. All versions of the GENERAL enjoy the convenience and protection from passing scrub afforded by half doors as standard.
Two versions of the GENERAL are destined for New Zealand shores by late-April, the PREMIUM at an RRP of $26,495 inc GST and the DELUXE at $29,995 inc GST. Both versions include a 4500LB Winch as standard, Sport Low Profile Front Bumper plus 14” Alloy Wheels with tough 8-ply Dirt Commander Tyres. The DELUXE takes it up a level in the performance stakes with the addition of Fox Performance Series Podium shocks front and rear, plus the comfort of a Sport Roof, the convenience of a Convex Mirror and the audio bling of the GENERAL MTX Premium Soundbar with Bluetooth connection.

A full range of accessories is available to further customise the GENERAL including a choice of full and partial cabins, additional lighting, a heater and gun scabbards. There is over 30 GENERAL specific accessories in the range plus another 90 common fit items to make it the ultimate hunting or farming all-rounder in all-weather comfort.

Introducing the Polaris GENERAL

The Polaris GENERAL Sets the Versatility Benchmark: Ultimate Versatility to Battle It All

Polaris GENERAL Deluxe
Polaris Industries, the leading manufacturer of off-road vehicles, continues to expand its market leadership by broadening its side-by-side product line-up. Today, the company is introducing the Polaris GENERAL™, the new standard in off-road versatility. This new model will be available in New Zealand from late Q1 2016 onwards.

“Today is a great day at Polaris! Once again, we are launching a game-changing new product,” said Tim Blinkhorn, General Manager of RANGER & Polaris GENERAL. “This vehicle is the most versatile side-by-side ever built, made for those who want to battle it all. Whether it’s dominating any trail, or conquering any job, The Polaris GENERAL delivers.” The Polaris GENERAL has class-leading features needed to tackle the trails and a work ethic to battle tough jobs. It starts with a 100 horsepower ProStar® 1000 engine delivering the most power and torque. The engine accelerates 0-40 mph in 3.6 seconds, thanks to a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio. When it’s time for work, the Polaris GENERAL brings the biggest payload of 498 kg and a class-best 272 kg dump box to get the job done.
For all-day comfort and a locked-in, aggressive feel, the Polaris GENERAL features a completely new cabin for an all-new ride experience. Factory-installed half doors with armrests offer extra protection from debris, and easy in-and-out, work-friendly cab access. The roomy cab features dual bolstered bucket seats, adjustable for the driver, providing a secure feel and ample leg room, while the thin-film technology under the seat cover provides a dry ride in wet conditions. Space-optimized foot rests for both the driver and passenger also make for a secure ride.

Inside the cockpit, the Polaris GENERAL features an all-new customizable instrumentation cluster that tilts with the steering wheel and includes a combination of digital and analog gauges giving clear
readings of vehicle speed, engine RPMs, and standard trip information. To keep riding and work essentials close, the vehicle features 23 liters of integrated storage inside the cab with a combination
of enclosed and in-dash storage. The center console is not only a comfortable armrest but also provides more storage, a 12V outlet and two cup holders. Sealed floor seams and equipment pass-throughs keep the occupants cleaner; while dual removable floor drains allow for easier clean out of the cabin.

For a stable and smooth ride, the Polaris GENERAL has an 81-inch wheelbase complemented with a performance-oriented suspension for ultimate control. The vehicle features a dual a-arm front suspension with a class-best 31.12 cm of suspension travel and 33.53 cm rear travel that is calibrated to soak up rocks, roots, bumps and ruts. Standard front and rear sway bars keep the ride level and reduce body roll through aggressive cornering on trails. Ground clearance is also best-in-class, with 30.48 cm unloaded, and 18.8 cm when loaded with 272 kg of camping gear or work materials in the dumping bed. The vehicle also features a full-body skid plate to protect from trail obstacles.

The Polaris GENERAL features a High-Performance, Close Ratio All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system maximizing power delivery to the ground in every condition for a more responsive ride. When needed, all four wheels will engage almost instantly for more forward traction and will revert back to 2WD when it is no longer needed. The vehicle also features an Engine Braking System (EBS) for more control when trailering up to 680 kg and on descents. Along with the AWD and EBS system, a faster steering ratio coupled with standard Electronic Power Steering (EPS) means the vehicle takes the brunt of what the terrain has to offer so the operator can play or work longer.

The Polaris GENERAL showcases fully-integrated accessories and with more than 30 brand new Polaris Engineered Accessories™ and 90-plus common fit items, the vehicle can be customized to work more efficiently and get back to the trail quicker. The cab frame features profile tubing providing a 360-degree sealing surface that accepts the revolutionary Polaris Pro- Fit Lock & Ride® Technology providing the best in class cab comfort. Windshields, roofs, doors and rear panels follow the shape of the vehicle, locking directly into the cab frame’s precision contours. The vehicle also accepts the Glacier® Plow Systems, a full line of protection, several LED lighting options and Lock & Ride storage Accessories to quickly and easily add or change as needed for the trail or job. For ultimate class-leading cab comfort, a heater kit and windshield wiper kit provide additional all-weather options.

To meet the variety of recreational and work needs, the Polaris GENERAL is available in three different models. The base model is available with in-mold plastic in Indy Red. The Polaris GENERAL Velocity Blue will include automotive-style paint; Sport Low Profile Front Bumper and Polaris HD 4500 lb. (2041 kg) winch; and 14-inch (35.56 cm) Matte Black cast aluminum wheels paired with eight-ply, 27-inch (68.58 cm) GBC Dirt Commander tyres providing better side bite, stiffer sidewalls, better tracking through corners and increased durability in tough work environments. The Polaris GENERAL Deluxe Orange Burst will have all the features included on the Velocity Blue model with premium adjustable Fox Podium X 2.0 QS3 Shocks and the addition of a Polaris GENERAL Pro-Fit Lock & Ride Sport Roof, rear-view mirror and MTX® Premium Soundbar featuring eight-speakers delivering 100 watts of premium audio through Six Performance 3-inch (7.62 cm) speakers and Two 1-inch (2.54 cm) tweeters with Bluetooth connectivity to rock the trails.
Polaris GENERAL models will be available in New Zealand from late Q1 2016 onwards.

Polaris RZR is the gold standard in recreational vehicles due to the RZR family’s ultimate combination of power, suspension, agility, comfort and customization. Owning a RZR is not only about the dunes and trails one can conquer but the lifestyle that goes along with that experience. Polaris continues to innovate the RZR family to enhance that experience by consistently taking off-roading to a new level.

Polaris raises the bar yet again by launching the all-new 2016 RZR XP Turbo EPS! Razor sharp performance has officially been turbocharged!
Unlike other turbo offerings on the market and true to RZR’s heritage of building complete machines that set the vehicles apart from the competition, the new RZR XP Turbo EPS is completely engineered, front to back, to translate industry-leading power into unmatched performance. To deliver maximum durability and performance, Polaris has performed substantial testing on the engine with enough test miles to travel around the world more than nine times; and paired the engine with an all-new stronger driveline to ensure all the power gets to the ground reliably. The vehicle brings significant innovations to each of the hallmark Power, Suspension, Agility, Comfort and Customization aspects of RZR to provide the ultimate off-road experience.
Specifically built to take extreme performance to a new level, the all-new Polaris ProStar® Turbo engine, with turbocharger, provides an industry-leading 144 horsepower, an impressive acceleration of 96.6 kph in 5.89 seconds and 45 percent more torque.

The ProStar Turbo is the most powerful side-by-side engine available from the factory for unequalled power, torque, durability and excitement. The new engine was developed for extreme performance and features an impressive amount of high performance parts including forged pistons, an upgraded 270-degree firing order forged crankshaft, high strength connecting rods, a closed deck cylinder, sodium filled exhaust valves and a new oil lubrication system.

For consistent performance at all temperatures, the vehicle also includes a new liquid charge air cooler with front-mounted radiator and high-flow electric pump. To control the massive power delivered by the ProStar Turbo, the engine management system has also been updated to include knock detection, boost control and a high-flow return style fuel system ensuring that the engine delivers maximum power under all conditions, altitudes and temperatures.
To harness all that power and deliver it to the ground, the RZR XP Turbo EPS features a brand-new, fullyengineered and stronger driveline for maximum durability. The ultra-efficient driveline features an allnew, high performance PVT system with all-new clutches and drive belt; a new, stronger transmission with geared reverse and stronger shafts; and a High-Performance, True On-Demand All-Wheel Drive System to distribute the massive 144 horsepower to the ground. The new, high-flow, targeted clutch air cooling system is designed to reduce clutch and belt temperature to enhance and extend belt life.

The RZR XP Turbo EPS boasts the most precisely-tuned suspension due to the vehicle’s highly-tuned FOX Podium® Internal Bypass Shocks offering the plushest ride and best handling found on a side-by-side. The shocks generate progressive damping force that gives the vehicle a smooth ride with all the bottomout resistance expected from an ultra-performance off-road vehicle. Large diameter shock bodies (3 in/7.6 cm rear, 2.5 in/6.4 cm front), adjustable remote reservoirs and increased fluid capacity provide dramatic improvements in heat dissipation, fade resistance and durability. The internal bypass technology uses five compression zones to provide progressive damping as the shock gently absorbs bumps and stiffens to prevent bottoming. Combine that with three zones of rebound damping to minimize pitching and harsh top out to give you an ultra-plush ride and better handling over a wider range of terrain at any speed.

To complement the shocks, Polaris outfitted the RZR XP Turbo EPS with bigger coil-over springs. The progressive rate upper spring is a lighter-weight spring that absorbs small impacts while the stiffer main spring maintains ground clearance and absorbs bigger impacts in rough terrain. The suspension set up ensures the RZR XP Turbo EPS can tackle the toughest terrain while keeping the ride plush and enjoyable.

To conquer the whoops, the RZR XP Turbo EPS 90 in/228.6 cm wheelbase, paired with its 3-Link trailing arm rear suspension, gives the vehicle 18 in/45.7 cm of rear travel and a whopping 13.5 in/34.3 cm of ground clearance. The 3-link geometry allows surface-hugging grip as the vehicle pulls through corners from the use of optimized camber gain, and the length of the trailing arm provides a better ride. Up front, the RZR XP Turbo EPS features an exclusive front suspension geometry that results in less steering
effort for easy maneuverability. Paired with industry-exclusive 29 in/73.7 cm Maxxis Bighorn tires on 14 in/35.6 cm cast rims for a better ride and higher resistance to pinch flats, there’s nothing that stands in the vehicle’s way.

The RZR XP Turbo EPS is the best handling sport side-by-side because it’s the most responsive to both the driver and terrain, and provides unmatched agility in every condition. The vehicle’s new front swaybar and re-tuned rear swaybar dramatically decrease body roll for a more confidence-inspiring ride while the vehicle’s durable High Performance, True On-Demand All-Wheel-Drive system provides the ultimate in responsiveness to the terrain. The system features a close ratio final drive to keep the front wheels pulling stronger and longer maximizing power delivery to the ground. The system is paired with standard Electronic Power Steering and an 18 ft/5.5 m turning radius to provide unmatched point-andshoot handling making the vehicle very responsive to the driver. For even more control, the unit has quick, two-turn, lock-to-lock steering allowing the operator to showcase the point-and-shoot agility the vehicle has in response to all terrains.

The RZR XP Turbo EPS not only has industry-leading power but industry-leading braking performance for precision stopping. The upgraded brakes feature large, new, triple piston front calipers, dual piston rear calipers, new stainless steel rotors and large 248mm ventilated discs on all four corners, for the best stopping power on a side-by-side vehicle.
The driving experience of a RZR is like no other due to the revolutionary comfort aspects that are only found on RZR vehicles, including the new RZR XP Turbo EPS. The vehicles were thoughtfully designed to provide occupants with the most exhilarating, comfortable ride on the market. From the patented design that places the engine behind the seat to the placement of the occupants comfortably towards the middle of the vehicle, RZR’s design provides a low center of gravity for unparalleled handling and
ground-hugging performance. Coupled with cab features such as bolstered seats, tilt steering, spaceoptimized foot rests and factory-installed quarter doors that keep the occupants planted and secure, the RZR ride experience is like no other.

For an optimized driver positioning, the RZR XP Turbo EPS also features a new seat angle for a more comfortable driving experience. The angle situates the driver closer to the steering wheel bringing the elbows closer to the body for less arm fatigue and a more natural driving position. For increased comfort, adjustable seatbelt sliders provide the occupants with the ability to change the position based on their height or comfort level for the most enjoyable, adrenaline-pumping ride experience yet.
RZR enthusiasts love to accessorize their vehicles and the RZR XP Turbo EPS provides revolutionary customization due to its large 660 watt charging system, unmatched accessory integration and more than 145 exclusive accessories.

The purpose-built vehicle chassis is exclusively engineered for Polaris Engineered Accessories™ which are designed with the vehicle in mind to ensure the highest quality of design, integration and function. With integrated mounting points situated along the vehicle frame and pass-through areas for routing wires, accessories can be attached with minimal installation time. Additions, such as rock sliders and bumpers, easily attach and fit securely to the vehicle’s frame due to Polaris’ innovative Expanding Anchor technology; a revolutionary piece of hardware that expands as it is inserted into a mounting point. Lock & Ride® windshields, rear panels, roofs and doors work seamlessly with each other and install directly onto the vehicle frame’s designated mounting points, making installation simple, and providing superior fit and finish. Polaris Engineered Accessories™ come with a one-year factory warranty and do not jeopardize the vehicle warranty.

To fulfill RZR owners’ desire to customize their vehicles and round out the full line-up of Polaris Engineered Accessories™ across the entire RZR family, including the new RZR XP 1000 Turbo EPS, Polaris has dramatically expanded their audio, lighting and storage offerings.

To keep the tunes pumping, Polaris Engineered Accessories is now offering two high-performance soundbars in four and eight speaker options, and Extreme Audio Pods for premium sound. New highoutput Cannon lights for rally style lighting and a 30 in/76.2 cm LED Light Bar that can be mounted under the visor for more protection and provide even more lighting options. To run power accessories such as audio and lighting, the RZR XP Turbo EPS’ battery features 575 cold cranking amps and 44 amp-hours of
capacity. The 3-post terminal feature allows keyed-only power to prevent draining the battery, as well as quick and easy wiring of powered accessories such as lights or an audio system so RZR owners can spend more time enjoying their accessories than installing them.

For day trips or just buzzing around the dunes, the new Lock & Ride Cargo Bag by OGIO® provides 100 liters of storage capacity, enough space to fit two full-size helmets, and is constructed from waterresistant Tarpaline material to keep cargo dry. If a hard-sided option is preferred, the Lock & Ride Cargo Box provides 65 liters of storage with a secure latching lid and taunt, rubber tie downs. Its lightweight design integrates seamlessly with RZR’s cargo bed and features a flat top for additional top-mounted cargo capacity. To take along food and beverages, Polaris Engineered Accessories also offers 51 qt/48.3 L Lock & Ride Cooler Box that can keep contents cool for 48 hours or longer, depending on conditions.

The RZR XP Turbo EPS will be offered in Graphite Crystal or Velocity Blue. Stock is due to be available in New Zealand from late November onwards.
